I can't with Ellie because something isn't right with her liver but in general it is just a personal preference. While I don't believe grainless foods (usually high in protein) cause kidney problems, there may be other problems we don't know about. I understand why people would want to go this way because it is more natural, but I think most dogs can do just fine with grains.
