I don't know if anyone can point me in the right direction. We are refinancing our home and are ready to sign tomorrow. We just got a call,,,,, There is a lean on the house. They say I have a State loan that wasnt paid and was filed in Apirl. By the looks of it,,, it is a student loan or grant, or a work program loan. I finished school 18 years ago. Only attended one year of collage and paid that off a year later. And have not worked for almost 15 years. I am a full time stay home wife and mother.

They said there is a case # and they were going to look into it in the morning. I don't know what to do. They said that my name is very common and that it may be a mistake. But if it is a case of stolen Identity I don't know how to go about it. I don't understand why it wouldn't be on my credit report. And most of all,,,,, why would they put a lean on the house with out it being on my credit report? I have a copy and there is nothing on there of any kind of State loan. I really hope it's just a mistake!!!
