This pup was returned to me yesterday and I'm extremely confused. Three different vets have found nothing wrong with her. The owner told me one story, but I found a different story on one vet's paperwork.
On 2/22, she was just laying around, wouldn't stand up, so she went to a local vet who did a blood glucose, gave her something for constipation, an IV for dehydration, and a polyflex injection. Later that night, she went to the emergency clinic, got a urinalysis, abdomen ultrasound (showed moderate echogenic debris in bladder), another antibiotic, amoxicillin, and lactulose syrup for constipation. She followed up on the 23rd, with the puppy acting her normal hyper self. The bile acid test was done on the 27th, at Banfield/Petsmart, showing high counts.
So, now for the other page. When she was taken to the emergency clinic, they were told that she had been playing outside, chewing on a dead bird a couple days before, while spending a few days at a friend's house. And, it was noted on the form that she had eaten a bleach pen a few days before that and could have eaten toys, crayons, etc.
She's too fat for her age and structure, weighing almost 5#s at 4mo. I think they were feeding her more snacks than food. One of her brothers is at 3#s, same structure and height.
Oh, and she had not had any puppy shots or dewormings since she left me!
I feel so guilty and sad that this little girl has gone through this, but am so happy that I have her back. I honestly feel that she suffered a few tramas, wasn't being fed properly, missed vaccinations and that the antibiotics boosted her back up.
Please help me understand!
