Joey had this problem as a puppy. He was scooting on the floor and seemed so uncomfortable. The vet showed me how to do it, and you need to be very careful or you can push the liquid farther in instead of expressing it. This can cause a serious infection. He needed it expressed about every 2 weeks for the first year. Apparently, he wasn't pushing hard enough after a bowel movement to release the liquid. The last 6 months have been fine; I guess he outgrew the condition.
