I brought Rusty home at 6 weeks and he has been great since day one....But I had another Yorkie to practice on and have read every book ever published on Yorkies. I love the breed. My husband and I just could not wait and my breeder let me have my puppy at 6 weeks. By 10 weeks he was housetrained.
Rusty was not the norm though, as 12 weeks is standard.
I think alot would depend on how well the puppy has been socialized at 8 weeks and your experience in taking care of him, making sure he does not miss Mom and his littermates.
