I use a syringe, too, but when I called the ASPCA Poison Hotline, they had a fit when I mentioned that method. Poison control said that the dog could asperate. Was supposed to get them to drink it. Now how does one do that? Tried. Failed. Went back to the syringe. No time to waste when there's poison in a furbaby's tummy.
