I actually am not fond of most of the "fake meat" products out there. I could live my whole life just eating plain veggies and be happy, BUT, I have a family to think about too. I wanted the kids to see that we could still have somewhat traditional foods and still be kind to animals.
For example, Olivia came home and said she wanted to take a turkey sandwich in her lunch because her little friend at school always brings a turkey sandwich in her lunch. Well, there is a veggie version of turkey slices so she was able to do that.
For Christmas my family always makes a huge pot of spaghetti. Well, I make our spaghetti (with soy crumbles instead of ground beef and sausage) beforehand and take it with us. That way the kids still get to eat normal looking spaghetti right along with their cousins.
So there you have my reasons for including the fake meat products in my diet. Plus, this veggie bacon and tomato sandwich is super good! Did I mention that? lol
