I hate crates -- so what I did for Codie's surgery the first time was I bought a cheap baby play pen at Walmart (for like 40 bucks) and I kept him in there when I wasn't home. They are a lot bigger than crates and Codie was safe in there. I threw it out after Codie was totally healed up. I'm going to have to buy another one before his surgery because it really was very helpful last time.

GOOD LUCK to Sammy!! Please let me know how she does. She is having BOTH legs done at the same time? Poor baby.
Loki will be thrilled that Sammy won't be bugging him! She is always the one who wants to play so I'm not worried about that... but I do have a playpen and she has a crate that she either loves or hates depending on her mood.

The quote I got was for $2600+meds.
