A good reason to hold off on neutering is in case any baby teeth need to be pulled it can be done at the same time. I didn't get Sugar until he was 17 months. He marked like crazy! He also humped poor little Spike kind of often - I know it's a dominate thing and he was trying to establish himself as the head boy dog or whatever but still...eww! I had him neutered and he hasn't humped even once since then that I can remember. I guess he's not concerned with being dominate anymore- what's the point? He also all but stopped marking right away. He'll mark outside sometimes and we've had a few incidents where he has marked a toy but for the most part I don't have to worry. I think we had Spike neutered around 8 months and he's never marked or humped and I mean never. He's never even lifted his leg to potty.
