I have a 3 year old, and I started as soon as she could understand telling her just where they come from. At this age, body parts arent embarassing or "icky"...and she's genuinely curious, so I think it is just easier to tell the truth. My parents NEVER told me the birds and the bees and unfortunately, I learned it all from kids who didnt hear the truth from their parents.

Ok, so she's 6 I think you said? Well, what about showing her on one of her dolls? Or maybe at bath time, hop in the tub with her (do 6 year olds still bathe with their parents?) and show her. I think you just have to word it in 6 year old terms. Good luck, I'm sure whatever you end up doing will be the right choice.
