If I were you, I would talk to a breeder about Chinese Sharpai. If the breeder is any good, they will tell you wheter they get along with Yorkies. They don't want one of their dogs to lose a home or be adopted out to someone who's house isn't going to work. Call a few breeders and get lots of advice. I personally have a Golden Ret. and 3 yorkies (soon to be 4 come Tuesday. Yea, Me) The yorkies are much more vocal and protective than the Golden. Of course, a Golden is NOT a guard dog. He would probably show a theif where the good china is. Ask around and find out.
