Well, I'm not sure. I never actually found the 6th pup, just heard a heartbeat and felt something inside. It could have possibly been her uterus and her own heartbeat...I was super exhausted....although I could've sworn it was a pup. If it was, he/she dissolved....so I guess I'll count 5.
