I would get a larger Yorkie and try to find a breeder that has kids who play with the pups. Or, continue to socialize the puppy with kids. Sammy came to us when she was a year old and she came from a family with little kids and she likes kids. I would get with a trainer NOW to figure out how to pick out a puppy that has a good temperament and now to make sure he does not become afraid of things. Loki has fear issues that we have spent the last 3 years working on and he is much improved and we love him but I would have loved if my trainer (who I found later) could have helped me pick him out because I might have gotten one who was not so fearful. (He was taken from mom at 8 weeks, we think this has a lot to do with it but didn't know any better then...)
Good luck! It can be done! We plan to have kids and I think my two will do great! |
