Other than talking to the breeder I buy my baby from, how can I find out about his/her genetics and other health problems that might crop up?

I bought my studs from a reputable lady but I have since come to the conclusion she has Alzheimer's so I am not sure how true some of the statements she gave me are. I do know, from her own words, that she showed the father of my studs but didn't finish him.

I bought my female from a breeder who was licensed thru the state and she said she has not had any genetic or health problems in her lines.

How do I check this stuff out? Sylvia
