Hi there! I know, Pet Store charge an arm and a leg for puppies! That makes me so mad considering the whole puppy mill deal.
When I was looking for my little guy, The most expesive breeder that I spoke too wanted $1700 for one of her puppies, but the majority of them were asking $1000 -$1500. Which you would be better off to pay that than get it from a pet store.
But yes, please don't buy from there or a mill. Your best bet is a breeder.
And yes, yorkies are known to have some potential health problems. I'm sure that some breeders on here can help you with that, but I would also reading a few books on Yorkies. I got the "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies" book. Since I was a newbie to the breed, it's pretty easy to understand and intersting to read, and to keep on file. I got it at PetSmart.
