I think it is a good thing. It keeps or tries to keep honest people honest.
I only have AKC dogs. I also show, but even if I did not show, I would - JMO - have AKC dogs - it speaks a lot when a registry takes things seriously.
I think what they were trying to say is that you can have good and bad representation of the standard in the breed in any registry.
Anyone that shows in AKC shows - their dogs must be AKC registered to show in any AKC event.
