In our puppy class we were instructed to "wear our dogs" by tying their leash around your waist and getting him to accompany you as you do chores around the house. We were told that this would help the dog bond to the owner and get used to taking cues from the owner's actions. 20 minutes a day is what was recommended. I quite enjoyed doing this.
