I don't get the same responses from my puppy as everyone else seems to. I am his primary caretaker, I bought him, he sleeps with me, and I'm nearly always there with him. I'm nice to him, I play with him and feed him, his water bowl is clean, I take him for multiple walks a day (though he prefers running freely in our (gated and supervised) back yard to being confined to the leash, I'm affectionate with him, ect.
He seems to appreciate me, he cuddles with me at night and he comes when I call him, but he isn't affectionate with me like he is with everyone else. For examples: when my boyfriend comes over, he immediately runs to him and wants to play, his tail wags, he licks his face ect. I've had him for two weeks now and not only does he very rarely lick my face, but I've never seen his tail move even when I'm playing with him. He also gets far more excited to see my grandparents come home than me, and he even responds better to near strangers (like my aunt and mother) than to me.
I don't understand why he seems to prefer everyone else. I've never really had to punish him, I give him stern No's but I've never struck him, rubbed his nose in his mess, or anything of the sort. I've never hurt him even by accident, he has no reason to fear me.
I just want to feel like my puppy loves me.
