I agree with the washcloth idea

It's hard to find a good vet sometimes, and if you don't trust your vet or feel that they are uncaring, definitely find a new one. How I found our present vet is that I went to the YTCA.org website and found a breeder in my area, then called and asked which vet she could recommend. If there aren't any breeders of Yorkies near you, check into other toy breed's organizations. They should be able to help you find a vet that is very knowledgeable of toy breeds, as they are NOT the same as bigger breeds. My old vet was nice, but dumb when it came to toy breeds and how quickly they can go downhill. I was ignorant of that as well, until I came here after the death of my Starr. Looking back with the stuff I learned here, my old vet was HORRIBLE. Nice, but horrible

Keep asking around and you'll find a good vet
