Smile New to the Community...

Hi my name is Shelby. I am new here. I do not own a Yorkshire Terrier but have friends interested in purchasing a puppy for their daughter. My reason for joining is to find out as much information on this breed as possible to ensure this is the right breed for them. I will be asking questions and I hope that you won't get tired of me.

A little about myself. I own and show a four year old American Pit Bull Terrier. In the past four years I have learned a tremendous amount of information on this breed. The main thing that I focus on is health and genetics. Knowing that the breed has trouble with heart and hip issues (plus more) I will be here trying to gather as much info about Yorkie's hereditary health issues. Of course know breed is without some sort of genetic problems but I really don't want my friends purchasing something that will be in and out of the vet for one problem or another. Two breeds that comes to mind is English and French Bulldogs. With both a huge amount of research needs to be done to find a reputable breeder who's best interest is in health testing, etc.

Anyway now I will move you over to the HEALTH forum so that I can start asking my questions! I hope that you will all welcome me even if I do get a bit annoying. Know that if I ask a stupid question I won't really know I did it because I don't know one thing about Yorkie's except their color pattern and that they have long hair.

Thanks!!!
