you know both with my grandkids and anyone elses kids that come here, the first time they try to pick up the dogs, or run (I dont want them stepped on or kicked by accident), I just stoop down and say ok kids, this is my house and we have some rules here ok? No running and no picking up the dogs. I also tell them if they want to hold them, to ask me, I will sit them down and put the dog on their lap all the while staying close. That seems to satisfy them and it also gives a pretty big clue to the parents what my rules are. If the parents dont say something if it continues, then I figure the rules have been layed down.
