Or something I've not mentioned, or a combination of a few? The above are just to get ya thinkin'. Maybe you ran with just a few friends or were comfortable in more than one crowd? Did you date much or not at all? Did you spend your 4 years with just one steady (wow, that's an outdated term!)? Did you push the envelope or go with the flow? Were you a fighter or peace-maker? I'm always fascinated by the way people change (or not) after they mature and are out in the real world. Do experiences that we have in high school, good or bad, shape who we become later in life?? Who has actually been back to their high school reunion? Nuh Uh, not me!!!
I'll add mine in a little while, gotta go cook supper...And, by the way, wonder what category FastEddie was in?? LOL! Hope he answers...It may surprise us! |
In high school I was definetly 'too cool for school.' I was always really mature for my age. When I was a freshman I went to prom, homecoming and all those other highschool events with the older kids. Then they graduated and I felt I had done all the highschool things and I was ready to move on. Unfortunatly, I still had 3 years left before I could graduate! So, I skipped a lot of school. Went to the beach, mall, waited for my parents to go to work and laid by the pool... SO, I missed a lot of school and when I became a junior I got work experience and I was leaving school at lunch time to go work. I've always had really good work ethic. I bought a new Mustang and was really serious about paying for it. My senior year I only had two classes, science and english. After that I was done at 9am. Honestly, I just thought kids my own age were pretty silly and I was just too cool.
You know what though... I kind of feel like I missed out a bit. I was in such a rush to grow up that I missed out on the whole highschool experience. I don't have any real close friends that I still talk to from highschool like my sisters do... I kind of regret not being there more and being a part of what was going on...
That being said, I AM SO GLAD IT'S OVER. I would never want to go back. And although I am SUPER proud of who I am now, I don't know if I will go to my 10 year renunion in 4 years...
