Most of the vets around here spay and neuter starting at 12-16 weeks, as long as the puppy is healthy and at least 2lbs. There are still many vets that continue to wait until 6 months though. If I had a male, I'd neuter him as soon as I brought him home from the breeder (definitely before 16 weeks) because I'd want to head off unwanted behavior before it begins. However, it is nice to only put them under once for spay/neuter and teeth pulling
