Deposits are pretty normal. Make sure you get a receipt back and know what the conditions are with the deposit. I wouldn't buy from a breeder that I didn't know well enough to know if I could trust them with a deposit or not. I think it's always good to find a breeder you like first and build a relationship before you purchase a puppy from them. It's so important to feel like you can trust a breeder. Paypal is nice though because you always have the option of filing a dispute if something goes wrong.
