I almost forgot, if you're having a hard time keeping him still and calm, the pain meds might be working so well that he doesn't know that he's got a boo boo. Ask the vet about that, as he may hurt himself more if the pain meds are masking too much of the pain. But definitely discuss all of this with the vet
