The outside dog is exposed to the elements
It can be stolen, shot, poisoned, attacked by a wild animal, escape, etc
Slade is kenneled in an XL crate (though rarely for 7 hrs) , so by your logic perhaps I should just leave him in the backyard where he would be "happier"?
