Our automatic waterer (fountain) type is washed out twice a week. I keep it outside because we live in Arizona and they could DIE if not hydrated out there. The dishes for inside are washed daily. There is a free feeder outside that is also cleaned twice a week. (it is plastic)
I will be switching to stainless steel dished for indoors. The steel would get too hot outside for them I fear.
