We have a fenced in yard. We do have a pool, but they are NEVER unsupervised out there, and by chance if someone falls in, there is a ramp we installed so that they can get out safely. Of course no one ever makes it to the ramp, I fish them out long before they make it that far, because I'm right there and they swim to meet me at the side of the pool. Then it's inside for a warm bath and a heated towel
I'm a paranoid Mommy and am always making sure that they are safe and can't get into anything.
We use peepee pads and go outside, so either way your baby is used to would work. I've been wanting a little boy so maybe babysitting one for the weekend will convince DH that we can't live without one
