This is very typical proceedure for a scammer. I'm a professional artist and I get these emails way too often. They say they love my artwork (usually list a couple) and want to pay with am. express, or other. My first sent 2,000 more than the work was worth. Being a smart girl, I took it right down to my bank to have verified. Yes, it was fraud. They wanted me to send them the balance with the artwork....Am Express would have taken the whole amount out of my account as soon as they discovered it was a fraud check.

Your gut feeling is usually right on these things. If they won't pay by paypal, I ignore them.
