After going through it with a baby and with a 3 year old, I would opt for doing it as a baby anyday. Immunizations hurt WAY more than the earrings do for a baby (its very obvious). And just like with immunizations, its worse when a child is anticipating it. They are better off not knowing its coming lol. Some cultures pierce thier babies ears at birth. Much better than chopping a tail and a finger off when they are a few days old IMO.
That being said I wouldnt give my dog an earring only because it would probably end up getting ripped out all the time by one of my other dogs while they are playing. I dont think its inhumane (people tag and brand their cows, even the friendly ones, tattoo and microchip their pets ) I just wouldnt want to do it personally.
Some people think dressing a dog is mean and sick. Dogs werent made to wear clothes, but we do that. |
I agree. Getting a microchip would be worse and how about cropping tails? The ear is very thin and I would never do it, but it probably wouldn't amount to much. And think about what we do to baby boys!
