You can take a pair of scissors and cut the mat parellel with the legs. (my spelling is terrible tonight.) In other words split the mat lengthwise not across. This way you have a smaller area to work with and you should have better luck. Just keep splitting and working out the mats. The lubrications work well, but they can also be a tab greasy. Brush for about 10-15 minutes and let the dog rest for awhile. It may take a couple days or more, but you can do it.
