The person I go to for acupuncture is an MD. She's my Dr. who treated my back pain before and after my surgery. The acupuncture really helped w/ my lower pain and the actual process was not as bad as I thought it would have been (since I REALLY HATE needles!). I'm actually pain free and have been since early December so I haven't had to go for a few months.
Supposedly there is acupuncture training for MDs who are interested in alternative forms of medicine in addition to just the traditional forms. You might want to check for MDs in physical medicine and rehab in your area to see if any of them do acupuncture
