Seeing that Macie is only 5 months old, I would crate her during your work hours. It's not cruel to crate, she'll be safe from any household dangers and you will have peace of mind while you are away. Give her food and water and a toy and she should be just fine. Good luck and remember she will change alot as she matures, so don't give up on her just yet.
