I said this because it is what vets recommend. I don't follow the recommendation myself.
They say dogs with good teeth should get them cleaned once or twice yearly and dogs with diseased gums should get them cleaned twice yearly.
Ellie has periondontal disease and had her teeth cleaned late January 2007.
Then she was spayed in late October and had them cleaned because she was already under. There was only a small amount of build-up.
Ellie will only get it done when it is necessary, not on a schedule.
