We have an eater too. Izzy just last night chewed up my hubby's eye glasses, the ear stem parts. Luckily she didn't swallow anything this time, the pieces were accounted for

I've taught my girls the command "drop it". If they willingly and quickly drop the offending item, I give them a treat. They have learned this so fast
If they don't drop it, I take it from them, they get a stern NO NO, and no treat. So they normally will drop it
You're doing all you CAN do, really, it's amazing how quick and resourceful these little boogers can be!
