With Sadie (19 weeks) I take her potty...In the basement in a play pen with potty pads. When it warms up she will be out side with chewy to potty. It seem that being you put her in there and she can't get out she will just go! (She has done this since she was 10 weeks old) If she were on the floor I have a feeling she would just walk away! I'm not sure but maybe if they are confined to a potty they would just go when you put them in there? Both mine are confined to a potty area... Chewy has an xpen out side.
Any way being she can't go potty herself I have to take her. I watch closely... if I see her sniffing I take her, and if she goes near the basement stairs I take her. She now only goes on the floor next to the gate that gates off the basement stairs and that tells me she knows where to go but couldn't get there...
I have never done the potty pads on the floor. I did try in her xpen and she shredded it up... (She won't go in the xpen even though I was hoping she would! )
