Confused BYB , Making money and Showing

Debate debate...I'm new but I bet as far back as you can go in the archives, this has been debated over and over again...
I know it is once or twice a week since I've been here.
Anyways...
Never make money? NEVER??????
Sometimes we do lose money on a Yorkie litter
But most time we DO make some money.
I know there are few who honestly don't.
But most do...
I am a loving caring hobby breeder.
To just call anyone on a forum or insinuate they are horrible is just plain wrong~!
Lets worry more about the true BYB and horrible puppy mills.

I just have to do this....please dont take offense anyone....
Its ALL true
The cost of having animals I love
Ten hours of traveling to upper Michigan to find the best prized stock Registered Nigerian dwarf goats I can. 650.00 x 2 and 700.00 for 1
Gas
Hotel room for staying over and gas for driving back
vaccines for all goats
Brushes, halters, leads.
Stanchion to hold them while we trim hooves or shear
(try and hold them without this..lol)
Clippers for hooves
Hairclippers for shearing
Feed (they wont eat the cheaper stuff...it HAS to be the sweet grain), which has went up 4.00 per bag since we got them, as the price of ALL grains has soared....thanks to needing corn for ethanol
Minerals~
Side feeders for grain in the barn.
Water pails ...yes these are NOT buckets, but flat sided pails for barns.
Heater to prevent freezing in the winter for these pails.
Hay manger
Hay to eat
Straw for bedding ..(both of which is at an all time high thanks to all the farmers to switching to corn for ethanol)
Stall Dry
Electric and water for the barn...
(this includes radio for country music at all times for predators)
Play ground equipment for then to run and jump on
Vet calls,
meds when sick
Tools for castrating males.
Dis=budding iron.
State and Federal certification.
Tools for mucking the barn
Muck boots
Treats, sunflower seeds, pumpkins, raisins.
I had 2 of my mama goats have twins both times , but one died.
I sold NONE....No profit.

Chicken grain has doubled!!!!!
But I wont even GO into the cost of chickens or ducks or geese, as I give my eggs away.
And when someone wants some...Free chickens ducks or geese for them.
No profit here neither......

My AKC golden to alert us to predators by the barn
He eats like a horse....and we have no plans to breed him, even tho everyone tells us he is the most beautiful golden they have ever seen.
The cost of his fenced in area to guard the barn. No profit there.....

One pickup truck AND trailer to haul 50 or more bundles of hay and straw at a time so you get the best price. And using it to haul poop out of the barn.

One motor home for fairs~ <grin> hey if its needed for shows I want it for fairs...lol

And of course ...the barn a Morton 4 stall horse barn and all the fencing for our 2 pastures....and.....on and on....and on.....

But the price of seeing your grandkids running thru the pastures chasing chickens and ducks....and hugging lil goats...PRICELESS~!!!!!!
