Communication is a two way street and as a patient, or a patient advocate part of that responsibility lies on you.
In the medical field, as in any profession you will find individuals that run the gamut from adequate to fabulous. It saddens me when blanket statements are made for an entire group. It was often one of the Doctors that hugged me when my son had once again taken a turn for the worse, or that would call me at 11:00 at night to make sure he had fallen asleep, or that cried with me when they wheeled him out of PICU and let us take him back home for the final time = cured. So, these same people that you say are ONLY in it for the money certainly showed me that often they are in it with their hearts... |
It's a known fact, that most Drs do not finish in the top 10% of thier class..sure, there are good Drs out there, but, they're in the big cities, they're not in these little towns, they're going to go where the big bucks are! In 51 years, I've yet to find a Dr that will listen to what you tell them. Heck, my f-i-l was going to a supposed great Dr in Greenville, SC(one of our bigger cities down here), if they wouldn't have moved back up to Ill to a big city, he would have been dead by now, as he had an anurysm he had had for years..of course, these quacks down here, didn't even know how to find the problem that they should have been looking for..so, that's great, I'm happy you have some better Drs there..
