Here's one...an old one that my Mom got off a radio show when she was young. It's delicious frosted with white, fluffy frosting, or chocolate frosting.
Favorite Chocolate Cake
Cream together thoroughly: 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla.
Mix 1/2 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup cold water and add to above mixture.
Add: 2 1/2 cups cake flour added alternately with 1 cup cold water.
Add: 3 egg whites which have been stiffly beaten with 3/4 cup sugar.
Last, add 1 1/3 tsp. soda dissolved in 1 Tbsp. boiling water. Bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean when checked. 35-40 minutes. |
