stud service Stud service works many ways. Most have a set fee, average is about $400/$500 for a non-champion, $750/$1000 for a champion, depends on several factors...paid at the time of the last breeding..you are buying a service, not a litter...same as a human going to a sperm bank.
Some ask for litter pick, not wise for the bitch owner and that is a mighty high stud fee IMO, never had a show breeder ask for a litter pick from me.....but there are no rules set in stone..no laws...just so each agrees and writes a contract so there are no forgotten agreements.
I have had some offer a litter pick and I took them...but if there was a change of heart or one puppy, they could pay the fee if they wanted to keep all the puppies, or there was only one girl or small one they wanted...
Finding a reputable, ethcial breeder with healthy studs is another story all together...always get referrals from other breeders, vets, etc you trust... |
