Originally Posted by Beabble Ya, in regards to what Indi had written, I know I had read that the face, the head and the legs were very common spots for the hair to start thinning when a pup has mites cause there face and paws is right up against the Mom when they nursed. | so sorry to hear your Maggy Mae has demodectic mange,, our Daisy does,, and hers has only come out on her BACK,, our vet had seen her all the time ,, since we brought her home,, they kept thinking she had some contact allergy,, or hot spots,,,as hers would come and go, I requested a skin test just prior to her second heat,, since it was getting worse and worse,, it was Demodex,, he was shocked,, i was just sick,, had her spayed very shortly there after,, so as not to pass on this heartbreaking affliction,,as yes,, it only travels mother to nursing pups,, i got Goodwinol ointment but only used it once,, he gave her 2 oral RX's, Clavamox for 15 days along with Promectin for 60 days,, she showed marked improvement within a few days,, and is now perfectly fine,, for now, we only recently finished off the Promectin,, and hope ,, since she wont be coming in heat,, it wont come back,, but it can,, and does with each progressive heat,, getting harder and harder to treat,, it is treatable,, but not curable,, Best of Luck! |
