I was told it's fine to get your puppy out... but not walking on the floor of petco. or anywhere else. Even my adult dog never walks on the petsmart floor. Dogs pee and crap constantly on those floors, and the other day I went and there was crap smeared all over the parking lot where some one had stepped in it and just wipped it on the ground. Who knows WHAT THE HECK is on those gross floors!!!!
But in a purse bag, and not putting to much stress on your dog is ok. Bring water and food, and make sure she is warm enough. (Remember also that those bags can get HOT inside!)
One warning... when Chewy was very young like your puppy, we had a few adults just take him right out of my daughter's arms!!!
She was 17 1/2 at the time.
People love these little ones so much they get excited when they see one and want to hold them. I had to teach my daughter to STEP BACK if some one was zooming in for the kill. When people ask if they can hold our dogs we say it is against our rules because they wiggle so much and could be dropped. Think about how you will handle these things before you go out so you are ready.
