It is not just that people think yorkies should not go to homes before 12 weeks for any reason. A mother dog plays a big part in the socialization of the puppies and eight weeks is just too early to remove toy puppies from the mother. A lot of the mother socializating does not start until they are walking good and playing at 5 and 6 weeeks and 2 weeks does not allow much time for mom to teach the pups the behavior they learn from her. About how to interact with other adult dogs, and how to behave in the social structure of the pack.

I also tell prospective puppy buyers to not accept a puppy that a breeder wants to let go before at least 10 weeks at the youngest and preferabley 12 weeks.
