If someone has a passion for breeding and producing wonderful, healthy and loving companions they should be rewarded. If you put your heart and soul into it and do it right you can make a little money if your are lucky. Showing is not for everyone and I would never condemn someone who wants to breed their Yorkie as long as they do it properly. There are many breeders on YT that breed beautiful dogs that do not show. Also, no matter how good of a breeder you are, sooner or later, chances are you will produce a puppy with health issues. There are many genetic defects that even the experts are not sure if they are hereditary or not. It does upset me at times that there are so many people breeding that don't have a clue as to what they are doing but then I think back to when I first started raising Yorkies 12 years ago and I made many of the same mistakes and I am still learning. Too me, a Yorkie should be first and foremost a healthy, loving companion and if it is quality enough to show then that is icing on the cake. |
