To a point, it's an opinion. But there is a written standard for the breed, and only those dogs that clearly meet the standard should be bred. Yes, most dogs are cute, but most don't meet the standard and shouldn't be bred. I think my baby is adorable and wouldn't trade her for the world but she's no where near show quality and has plenty of faults. Doesn't mean she's not pretty...just means she doesn't meet the standard for the breed. So there is a certain line where a dog clearly does or does not meet the standard. Where it becomes an opinion are the fine details...the "type" the individual breeder looks for - you'll find slight variations in color, face, height, length, etc..

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
