Last summer my husband and I were about to leave to go shopping, and as he held the door open for me, both Tootsie and Teddy ran and were headed for the corner, which at times is busy.
I started to chase them, and then remembered that they love that, so I hollered good bye, and started to head for the house (keeping my eye on them) I could hear a car coming, and my heart was in my mouth, if they would have kept going, I'm sure they both would have been hit.
Miraculously, they turned around at the very last minute, and followed me home.
Needless to say, we didn't go shopping, I was just too shook up. They can be very sneaky.
