I just sit here and think about the $$ invested in breeding stock, the travel involved with it, cost of food, vet care, time with dogs and the litters, cost of testing and routine care for adults and puppies, grooming supplies,...and that's just the very basics...then add to that costs for those who show, travel, hire handlers, entry costs, cost w/ registration/clubs, etc. Heck, I dropped nearly $100 in PetSmart yesterday for a months worth of food/supplies alone for 3 dogs and no litter whatsoever.

Thinking of how every little thing adds up, I definitely see dollar signs, but they are all RED!

Again, I'd have to really question if they were making this money in an "ethical" fashion, (Which I guess depends on what you consider "ethical too.) I'd question anyone who had to put so much thought into 'advertising.' Most breeders that I consider 'ethical' have waiting lists or are breeding for themselves and don't have a need to selectively advertise.
I agree with you. But some breeders (that claim themselves 'ethical') that has waiting list are making bucks also. Again, if it wasn't for YorkieTalk then they wouldn't be able to make so many friends that end up getting from them and sell higher. I have been researching about the prices in different areas and see that in someplaces the average price people would pay will be less than $1000. But with YT, everyone says that the average is $1000-$2000 so people in those areas sell in that price range because they are able to sell on YT and are able to say that they are doing an 'average price' (which wouldn't be the case if they sold in their papers.) And I know that you price your babies according to what you think they are worth but if you sold in the papers you won't be able to sell your babies. YT is heaven to so many breeders because this is a great place to make friends and be able to sell, sell, sell. And I'm not the only one that sees this. Again, my opinion!
