Well, that's it in a nutshell.
Anything you do profit you put right back into it by the time you figure in all the costs involved.
I'm sure there are those who make a nice living off of it...the ones that save $$ by not having proper testing performed, not having shots and vet checks for the dogs, that let them go too young so they can avoid the costs required for continued care, that breed super small dogs and charge and arm and a leg for a "teacup." So see, there are SOME breeders making money from what they do...
