My Chloe (maltichon) had separation anxiety too. When she was young I couldn't even walk outside to get the mail. She would cry and whine and get so upset she would poo whereever she was. When I come back in she would act like I had been gone for 100 years. I tried gating her in once and Chloe chewed and bent the wires on the gate, knocked it half over and climbed it. When we got Bella, our Yorkie, Chloe got better. We can go outside and leave them in the house for a little while and Chloe is fine. Both of them also stay in crates right next to each other.
