some people just don't know any better.. and that's ok... they are doing what they think is best. but now that you know you can switch to any of the foods mentioned in this post. I would not "ask" your vet.. i would just change.. he will want you to put him on a food that he sells... and a lot of vets don't sell the best food. His runny poop is probably from the food... and just so you know when you do change his food he will have diarrhea for a few days.. that's normal.. his body is trying to clean out all the crappy food and is adjsuting to the new food.. when you cahnge.. go slowly.. take 7-10 days to cahnge him over.. gradually adding more of the new food.. the dirrhea can last a few days.. make sure he is drinking so he doenst' get dehyrdrated.
